The middle of the island of Tenerife – Teide National Park

Rocks of Garcia

One of the most visited places is the picturesque volcanic rock formations right next to the Parador National de Turismo, Rocks of Garcia, with suggestive names: Finger of God ("Finger of God") or La Catedral ("cathedral"). The rocks in the background of Teide look really fascinating. Most tourists are limited to viewing them from a crowded viewpoint right next to the parking lot, but it's worth the walk around the rocks.

Tiles

In Spanish, azulejos are colorful ceramic tiles, and in the Parque Nacional Teide they are marked with green tinted rock formations visible along the main road, a few hundred meters south of Roques de Garcia.

Z The Hope of El Portillo

There are many beautiful routes in Tenerife, however mato that rivals the TF-24 road, running from the small town of La Esperazna to the Teide National Park. After just a few kilometers of driving through a pine forest, you reach the first viewpoint, from which Santa Cruz de Tenerife can be seen beautifully. Then the road begins to climb to the top of the mountain range. It is worth staying at the Mirador de Ortuńo, to see the panorama of the northern part of the island. A few kilometers further from the main road you turn right to Mirador de Chipeque - the stop here is simply obligatory, even if someone has stopped before, and even more so if he did not. After a few more kilometers, the trees disappear, and Teide is clearly visible.
Right at the entrance to the park is the Observatorio del Teide Izana. For several years now, even mere mortals have been able to see through powerful telescopes inside, but the visit must be booked at least 10 days in advance.

Hiking

Many people just drive their car through the park - it's actually not surprising, because the road itself and the viewpoints are very impressive. However, to see something more and get away from the tourist crowds, worth going on a hiking trip, especially, that was set up 21 hiking routes (plans are to launch more).

Planning a hike, however, there are a few things to remember. At an altitude of over 2000 m n.p.m. physical condition may be slightly abnormal, therefore you really have to measure your intentions. Persons, who notice symptoms of altitude sickness (dizziness, nausea), they should take a short rest, a if the symptoms persist, turn back from the route. Otherwise, regardless of the season, despite the sunny weather, it can be chilly and windy here, so it's always a good idea to have a jacket or sweater with you. It is also necessary to take care of sun protection (creams with a filter below 20 UVs are not enough) and water – it is hard to find a piece of shade in the park, and the sun is really strong. Necessary to bring maps – Very good publications are available at the tourist information centers within the park.

Organized hiking

Every day throughout the year, park staff organize two-hour walking tours with a guide in English and Spanish. 20-personal groups depart from El Portillo, Fr. 9.15 i 13.30 towards Arenas Negras (2 at. 30 min), The Fortress and (3 at. 30 min), Pear Rock (2 at) i Green Risk (3 at) and from Cañada Blanca, Fr. 9.30 i 13.00 of Roąues de Garcia (2 at. 30 min), Slaughter of Guajary (3 at. 30 min) and Guajara (5-6 at). During the walk, you can see the corners of the park, which cannot be reached by car, and learn a lot about its history, fauna and flora. The route is adapted to the abilities of an average tourist. The groups are very small, therefore, the place must be booked at least a dozen or so days in advance, by calling the park's main office in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Wandering inside the park is also offered by private companies that organize active leisure.
