Steep streets and traditional stone houses surrounded by palm trees is what Alajeró is – the capital of the commune of the same name. Drago of Agalan
1,5 kilometers north of Alojeró you can see the largest and oldest wild-growing drago tree on Gomera. To get there, take the appropriate sign off the main road, park and walk a bit along a well-marked trail.
Santiago Beach
At the beginning of the 20th century, Playa Santiago was a small fishing village. In years 60. After the crisis in the years 70. XX w. the place was deserted, so that in years 90. slowly begin to transform into one of the two resorts of La Gomera. Even though there are a bit more people on the city beach, it is definitely not mass tourism. Among the architectural monuments in the town, Ermita de Carmen and Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol stand out.
Black, Playa Santiago's pebble beach is one of the longest on the island, and thanks to the underwater caves it is also an ideal place for diving. However, if someone is looking for a little more loneliness, he should go to the rocky Playa Chinguarime, Middle Beach and Tapahuga na północ od Santiago Beach, where naturism is allowed. The tour desk is located right on the beach, in the Las Vistas building on Avda. Maritima. There is a bus to Playa Santiago from San Sebastian and from the airport. Clinic, pharmacy, post office, the police station and gas station are concentrated near Playa Santiago beach. There are also several car rental agencies in the town. From Playa Santiago you can go on a trip to Los Organos, which is organized by the company Excursiones Chinea Morales, try your hand at diving with the Gomera Dive Resort and play golf on the beautiful Tecina Golf course, which apart from the traditional ones 18 the dimples offers unforgettable views of Tenerife and the Teide volcano. The choice of accommodation in and around Playa Santiago is very large, therefore everyone will find something for themselves. The only large hotel complex, in addition, stylized as traditional island architecture, is Jardin Tecina. Playa Santiago is indeed a resort, however you can eat really well here, without burdening your wallet. For fresh fish, it is worth visiting the cozy Juniona restaurant, praised by the locals. Tasty traditional dishes are served in the Casanoua restaurant and in La Cueuita sandwiched between the rocks.
