Loro Park is a modern and impressive zoo, which is located in the north of Tenerife in Puerto de la Cruz. Loro Park is a member of the IUCN foundation (International Union for Conservation of Nature) dealing with the protection of highly endangered species of animals. The Loro Park Foundation in particular deals with the protection of parrots and their natural habitat. Over three hundred and fifty species of these birds live in the Park.
Known for his shows of killer whales, dolphins, seals and parrots, the park has an area 13 hectares. In the eighteen-meter aquarium, through the glazed tunnel under the water, we can see several species of sharks and exotic fish. The place is also noteworthy, where four species of penguins live. The ice tunnel is a faithful replica of the natural habitat of these birds, where the temperature inside is minus fifteen degrees (visitors admire this arctic world from behind the glass).
Katandra Treetops is a place where you walk on footbridges suspended between trees, we meet different species of parrots and other exotic birds, familiar with the companionship of visitors.
There are also sizeable gorillas in Loro Park, Bengal tiger, jaguar, crocodiles, porcupine and other rare animals.
The park is open daily from 8.30 am to 18.45.
Tickets cost 33Euro for an adult and 22Euro for children from six to eleven(under the age of six, admission is free). The ticket is indefinite, it means, that if you failed to visit the Park, it can be used up to a year later. At the airports of Tenerife you can get a free discount coupon for the purchase of tickets for children. From the center of Puerto De La Cruz for free, we get to Loro Park by the characteristic yellow train (leaves what 20 minutes).
You need a good few hours to explore the park and see all the shows and attractions. There are many cafes and restaurants in Loro , unfortunately the prices for meals are quite high.
