Accommodation
Most of the accommodation places are concentrated in the south of the island, in the area of Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles. Unfortunately, it turns out, that this is where it is most difficult to find free accommodation, because most hotels and apartments are booked in advance by tour operators. Therefore, if someone plans to spend the night in the south of the island, rather, he should take advantage of the offer of one of the travel agencies. Persons, who want to spend some time in an authentic Canarian atmosphere, they should decide to rent casa rural. Acantur associations are helpful in looking for agritourism accommodation (www.ecoturismocanarias.com) and Gran Canaria Rural (www.grancanariarural.com).
There are several official camping sites on the island, managed by the local government (council). They usually have access to running water, bathrooms and toilets. To be able to use the camping site, you must first obtain a permit from the appropriate office (c / Agustm Millares Carló s / n; the Gran Canarian palms; 928219229, fax 928219449).
Free certificates are issued for a maximum of seven nights. It is best to send people's passport numbers by e-mail or fax from Poland, who are interested in camping, and pick up your document upon arrival on the island. More information about camping sites can be found at www.grancanaria.com and www.canarynet.com.
Gastronomy
What to try in Gran Canaria?
First of all, traditional Canarian dishes – in search of them, it is always better to go deep into the island, because in resorts they are either not given at all, or they do not sin in quality. It is worth looking for delicacies served only in Gran Canaria. One of them is the famous chorizo (a kind of raw sausage with spices, which is spread on bread) i sweet blood sausage (Black pudding made of pork tenderloin with an admixture of potatoes, raisins and honey) from the village of Teror. Queso de flor is also very tasty- cheese called flower, because the inflorescence of the local cardo silvestre is added to it. It's worth trying the carajacas, that is grilled liver marinated in green parsley, with the addition of hot pepper. Lovers of sweets will not despise marzipan made in Tejeda. Accompany your meal with a glass of Santa Brigida or San Mateo wine. Guindilla is good for digestive problems (homemade rum and forest fruit tincture, with the addition of cinnamon) or just a glass of Arucas rum.
Beaches
Just beautiful, Gran Canaria owes a pond to its naturally golden beaches. The most famous are of course Maspalomas in the south and the small golden coves stretching to the west of the resort, all the way to Puerto de Mogin. Maspalomas and Playa de Inglte are places very eagerly visited by homosexuals - part of the beach is intended for them.
