On the one hand, the quiet El Hierro seems to be an ideal place for a family holiday in the bosom of nature, the other, planning a family stay on the island, however, it must be taken into account, that apart from swimming and building sand castles, there are no attractions for little travelers.
Active recreation
El Hiero is a real paradise for people who like active leisure, especially for hikers, divers and paragliders – the bird's eye view of the island is said to be an unforgettable sight (międzynarodowe zloty na El Hierro organizuje Paragliding Club Guelillas de El Hierro; www.dubgelillas.com).
Hiking
El Hierro to wyspa, which is easy to cross the length and breadth of a car within a few days, however, some places can only be visited by hiking, therefore when planning a stay, it is worth adding a few days and spending them on hiking trips. The trails are well prepared and perfectly marked, and in many places special boards with detailed information have been set up.
When planning hiking trips, it is worth visiting the tourist information office and asking for the Red de Senderos map, which contains a brief description of all the routes around the island. A helpful tool in planning your hikes is www.tourmac.info, run by the local government organization Tourmac, the purpose of which is to promote hiking tourism. People determined to spend more time hiking, they can obtain a guide prepared especially for walkers, El Hierro by the German publishing house Rother (www.rother.de; only in German for now, but an English release is planned; ok, 15 €). Diving
It is no secret among people who practice diving, that El Hierro is one of the best places to practice this sport. Resen / a Marina de El Mar de Las Calmas, west of La Restingi, is perfect for scuba diving – the sea is calm, and the underwater world is extremely varied.
