Taxi
Transhierro also has over a dozen taxis (Valverde 922550729; Border 922551175). Although it is not the cheapest way to get around the island, can be quite comfortable, especially for those who plan to go hiking – many people make an appointment with a taxi driver at the end of the route. Transhierro also offers a taxi with driver for a day trip around the island, and such pleasure costs 120 €,
Car
Although public transport allows you to reach different places on the island, to get to know El Hierro well, worth on 2-3 days to rent a car. This will allow you to see beautiful corners, which Transhierro buses do not travel to. El Hierro is a small island, which, however, does not mean, that it can be easily traveled around: changes in height and winding and sometimes very narrow roads can be troublesome. Additionally, the road layout makes, that very often, to get to some place, you have to leave the main road. Traveling by car in El Hierro, there are two things to keep in mind: Due to the winding and narrow roads, drive extremely carefully and closely monitor the gasoline gauge – there are only three gas stations on the island (w Valverde, in La Fronter and on the road leading to La Restinga).

Hitch-hiking
El Hierro is one of the safest places in Spain (crime is practically non-existent here, and residents do not close the door of their home or car), that's why you can hitchhike around the island without fear. Catching a bargain doesn't cause much trouble. It happens often, that the extremely cordial inhabitants of El Hierro instead of dropping off a hitchhiker to the nearest town, they offer to visit it together.
